Bird in focus
By Jonas Langbråten 07.11.2014 at 00:00 - Edited 07.11.2014 at 00:24

Horned / Shore Lark

The Norwegian name fjellerke (fjell = mountain) indicates where this beautiful lark has its breeding areas, while the English name shore lark indicates where they appear during the winter. It is often found in the coastal zone and on farmland along the coast during the winter, and a few normally winters at Lista. Some of them manage to appear in the bird observatory's log material just in time before the season ends on November 15.

This autumn's first observation was in mid-October. Now in the beginning of November, a small flock of three individuals has been seen in the area for a few days.
