The weekend of August 29-30, we celebrate the LISTA BIRD FESTIVAL with parties and activities all weekend long!

Program for the weekend

This year's bird festival is a collaboration between BirdLife Norway, Lista Bird Observatory and Lista Wetland Visitor Centre. There will be some changes to the program from previous years with two options for the Bird Race and the opportunity for everyone to take part in the Quiz. Food/barbecue will start at Hønemor (Gamleveien 32, Borhaug) before we end up with a pub in Tarebua on Saturday evening.

Now we can present the program for the festival:

Bird lecture at 7:30 PM - Breeding Migration and Other News from Bird Migration Research
By Terje Lislevand, Professor at the University Museum of Bergen, University of Bergen (UiB).

Thanks to modern tracking technology, researchers can now gain increasingly detailed insights into the journeys of migratory birds—from their breeding grounds to their wintering areas, and back again. In this presentation, Terje Lislevand will share new and perhaps surprising findings from his own migration studies. As it turns out, migratory birds do not always follow the textbook.

Bird pub with awards at 9:00 PM
- Various questions, photo quiz and then awarding of the Norwegian champion in birdwatching. The NM winner will be chosen from among the three best teams from Lista Bird Race (Fyrområdet). The winner will receive a gift certificate of 2000 NOK from Natur og Fritid! Prizes also for 2nd and 3rd place.
Everyone can participate in the Quiz and we will choose a winner with a prize for the quiz separately.
