The Bearded Reedling breeds colonially in large reedbeds, at lowland lakes and swamp margins.It occurs locally in many places in Europe and further east through Asia. This species is, due to its small population, classified as endangered in the Norwegian Red List. The reedbeds the Lista bird observatory area have been drastically reduced.
